In preparation for the SLP, make sure you have a thorough grasp of the terminology from the background materials, including the main sources of power and types of power tactics. Once you are comfortable with the terminology and concepts from the background materials, think of a manager that you worked with closely who held a fair amount of power at the organization you worked for

For the Session Long Project this session, you will be applying the concepts from the background materials to your own personal experiences in the workplace. You likely have experienced many if not all of the concepts at one point or another in your career, but you may not have been familiar with the precise terminology.
In preparation for the SLP, make sure you have a thorough grasp of the terminology from the background materials, including the main sources of power and types of power tactics. Once you are comfortable with the terminology and concepts from the background materials, think of a manager that you worked with closely who held a fair amount of power at the organization you worked for. Then write a 2- to 3-page paper addressing each of the following questions. For each answer, make sure to cite at least one reference from the required background readings.
What were this manager’s main sources of power? Include a discussion of reward power, legitimate power, and expert power as well as other sources of power discussed in the background readings.
Discuss some influence tactics used by this manager. Include a discussion about whether or not this manager used the influence tactics discussed in Anderson (1998) and Luthans et al. (2015) from the background materials.
Did this manager make good use of their sources of power and influence tactics, or did they misuse or abuse their power?

This is the scenario Final Project Scenario
Memorial Community Hospital (MCH) is located in Keen, Missouri. Keen is the county seat and has a population of 6,128, not including cows. The main jobs are in farming and agriculture. Keen is 50 miles from the closest urban city. If you ask residents why they live in Keen they will tell you that the community is family-oriented, peaceful, traffic-free and has plentiful parks and recreation activities, grocery stores, and a farmers’ market. Of course, Keen comes with the challenges that are standard in small rural towns, including residents that are older and have lower education levels, lower incomes, and less healthy lifestyles. The area is also characterized by occasional droughts, lack of seatbelt use, farming accidents, large numbers of residents who are uninsured and underinsured, limited business growth, and high incidences of kidney disease and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Memorial Community Hospital opened in 1970. It has 45 beds and offers services in acute care, emergency care, two rural health clinics located in the county, home health services, diagnostic testing, surgical services, laboratory services, hospice care, and therapy services. There are 130 full-time staff, including 8 physicians, 1 nurse anesthetist, 1 surgeon, and 1 physician assistant. Memorial hospital is one of the 3 base sites for the county-wide emergency medical services (EMS). The hospital averages 180 admissions and 147 emergency room visits per month, and approximately 7,300 outpatient visits per year. There are on average 45 babies born at Memorial Community Hospital each year. There are 4 senior administrators including a CEO, CFO, a CNO, and an Ancillary Service Director. There are 16 managers within the hospital for the varying departments and service areas. The average tenure for the hospital managers is 14.25 years.
The mission of Memorial Community Hospital is: We care. We are an organization that takes pride in what we do, how we do it, and who we serve. We are dedicated to providing care to a high percentage of governmental and uninsured patients and strongly believe in helping the underserved. Our culture is contagious. Patients who have only visited us once can immediately feel how the MCH is unique. Our hospital staff treats patients like patients, not like numbers in a system. At the MCH, every employee is member of our hospital family and we work hard to extend that relationship to every patient who walks through our door. We are resourceful. While the billion dollar health systems make deals, we make do. We do not solicit charitable donations, we do not put a lot of money into fancy facilities, we do not buy new if we can find it used, nor do we own our own insurance company. We do not have a million dollar foundation providing financial support. We earn every dollar we use to run our organization by providing quality care to patients who visit our hospital.

identify and describe an item from pop culture you regard as illustrating Nihilism. For example: a song, video, movie, advertisement, food, cliché, popular saying, business practice, etc. Why is this nihilistic, in your view?

identify and describe an item from pop culture you regard as illustrating Nihilism. For example: a song, video, movie, advertisement, food, cliché, popular saying, business practice, etc.
Why is this nihilistic, in your view?
James Sire says that “Strictly speaking, nihilism is a denial of any philosophy or worldview—a denial of the possibility of knowledge, a denial that anything is valuable” (p. 84).
Do you know anyone who fits this description? Is there anything commendable about Nihilism, or is it only self-defeating, and nothing more?
Look up “Themes and Related Quotes From ‘Waiting for Godot’” on the Internet. If you like, watch a segment of a “Waiting for Godot” production you find on YouTube. How does “Waiting for Godot” illustrate Existentialism?
If you were in high school drama, would you have wanted to perform in this famous drama by Samuel Beckett?
The Jewish existentialist Martin Buber is discussed on pp. 124-125. “For Buber, is it possible to have an I-Thou relationship with a horse, the ocean, or a tree?” From your own personal experience, illustrate Buber’s claim that
“All real living is meeting” (p. 124).
In what ways, if any, does technology promote Nihilism?

What safeguards are included in patient portals and PHRs to help patients and healthcare professionals ensure safety?

Case Study: A 65-year-old woman was just been diagnosed with Stage 3 non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma. She was informed of this diagnosis in her primary care physician’s office. She leaves her physician’s office and goes home to review all of her tests and lab results with her family. She goes home and logs into her PHR. She is only able to pull up a portion of her test results. She calls her physician’s office with this concern. The office staff discussed that she had part of her lab work completed at a lab not connected to the organization, part was completed at the emergency room, and part was completed in the lab that is part of the doctor’s office organization.
The above scenario might be a scenario that you have commonly worked with in clinical practice. For many reasons, patients often receive healthcare from multiple organizations that might have different systems.
As you review this scenario, reflect and answer these questions for this discussion.
What are the pros and cons of the situation in the case study?
What safeguards are included in patient portals and PHRs to help patients and healthcare professionals ensure safety?
Do you agree or disagree with the way that a patient obtains Personal Health Records (PHRs)?
What are challenges for patients that do not have access to all of the PHRs? Remember, only portions of the EHRs are typically included in the PHRs.

Please be sure and follow the instructor’s guidelines outlined below and incorporate material from the reading. The instructor is very particular about following the grading rubric, so all criteria should be met.
5-1 Discussion: Data Privacy Considerations
The European Union legislation called the “General Data Protection Regulation” (GDPR) provides data privacy protections for consumers and has had a major impact on companies around the world.
In your initial post, address two of the three bulleted questions below.
What are the general requirements and major impacts of the GDPR, and how does this law differ from data protection legislation in the United States?
How do perspectives on the GDPR differ between consumers and businesses? Do perspectives vary by industry?
Do you think there should be one data privacy law for the entire world?
Balance your discussion by weighing the benefits to international companies with your knowledge of the differences in culture, politics, and government around the world and the importance of the sovereignty of countries.
In your responses to two or more of your peers, address whether you agree or disagree with your peer’s opinion and whether there should be global data privacy legislation.
