Option #1: dual relationships

OPTION #1: Dual Relationships
Some say that multiple relationships are inevitable, pervasive, and unavoidable and have the potential to be either beneficial or harmful. Submit a paper analyzing both sides of this issue. Account for each of the following items:
Identify and explain the potential benefits of multiple relationships, and evaluate the argument that they cannot be dealt with by simple legislative or ethical mandates.
Examine the other side of this issue, evaluating the argument that multiple relationships are unethical, and provide reasons.
Compare and contrast the two arguments, noting any contractions, tensions, or fallacies that arise from the comparison. Is one position stronger or more efficacious than the other?

Cortney’s Case
Cortney is a 25-year-old woman who has recently lost her job due to a traumatic car accident and is seeking assistance caring for her three children ranging in age from 4-10. Cortney has received multiple medical bills that she is not able to pay. The doctors say she will not be able to work for at least a year since she had surgery on her back and neck. She is very tearful throughout the intake interview as shares that she does not have a good relationship with her family. While she does receive child support for the children and they are covered by Medicaid, their father does not see them regularly. She appears to have no support system. Cortney’s main concerns are losing the house she rents for $1200 a month, keeping utilities on, and feeding her family.

What options and or benefits should be offered as a severance package; and

Assignment #5
The company where you work as an HR representative has just been purchased by a major conglomerate that emphasizes profit (and a return to shareholders in the form of dividends and increased stock prices). The previous owners of the company (that was privately owned) tended to emphasize a family environment.
One of your co-workers is a long-time employee with over 40 years of experience working in various capacities for the company. Over time, this worker’s production has diminished to the point where this person (who is now well over 70 years old) is essentially getting a paycheck to simply come to work.
After hiring an outside consultant to conduct a manpower study, the new owners have directed HR to terminate this employee’s relationship with the company.
Please prepare a memorandum that advises upper management:
What legal risks (if any) the company might face in terminating this employee.
What your recommendation is regarding the termination of this employee.
If the decision to terminate the employee is affirmed:
What options and or benefits should be offered as a severance package; and
What process should HR undertake in going through the actual termination process with the affected employee?
(Hint: this is not a project that you will find one article on Google to guide you through it—you may have to do some additional digging and generate some independent thought.)

You may use credible sources in your discussion post, such as o*net online, shrm, glassdoor, or linkedin.

Prior to beginning this discussion forum, carefully read and review each section of Chapter 3 in the course textbook. The chapter is important because it provides a clear evaluation of the organizational development (OD) consultant role and the competencies required to succeed in the role.
For this discussion, you will locate an OD job description or job posting and attach the document to your response in the discussion forum. You may copy and paste the job description or posting into a Word document and attach it in the discussion forum. Keep in mind, a job posting is different from a job description and may not contain the detail needed for a proper analysis of the position.
There are times when an organization does not have a clear understanding of what the consultant does or how they do it. That lack of understanding might be evidenced in a job description, a job posting, or a request for proposal.
You may use credible sources in your discussion post, such as O*NET Online, SHRM, Glassdoor, or LinkedIn. Research several job descriptions or postings of OD consultants and identify the themes, salaries, and competencies required. The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) is a professional organization that has a wide range of articles relating to human resources (HR) topics and strategies, standards, and competencies. Founded in 1948, SHRM is the world’s largest and leading provider of resources to serve the needs of HR professionals and advance the professional practice of human resource management.
Analyze one OD consultant job description or posting and find the characteristics defined within the content. In your discussion post, include the important aspects of type, styles, and purpose. Determine if the consultant role is external or internal to the organization.
